Cut by candlelight. Old mine and old European cuts were shaped by hand, long before optical precision became the goal. They have small tables, high crowns and large open culets, which gives them a broad, slow, flickering fire quite unlike the sharp scintillation of a modern brilliant.
Why we collect them
Each of these stones has already lived a life. No two are alike, the outlines are often slightly irregular, and the warmth of their body colour is part of the appeal rather than a flaw. Setting one is a quiet form of conservation.
What you will find
A small, changing selection of rings and pendants built around single old cuts, mostly in 18K yellow gold or platinum 950, with settings designed for the individual stone. If you own an inherited old-cut diamond, bring it to our Zurich workshop and we will design a new piece around it.
